Calculator implementation coming soon. This calculator is being developed and will be available shortly.

This calculator computes the area of common geometric shapes using standard formulas. Simply select your shape and enter the required dimensions.

How It Works

Area Formulas

Rectangle: A = l × w | Circle: A = πr² | Triangle: A = (b × h) / 2

Each shape has its own formula: rectangle is length times width, circle is pi times radius squared, triangle is base times height divided by 2.

Rectangle: Area = length × width

Square: Area = side × side

Circle: Area = π × radius²

Triangle: Area = (base × height) ÷ 2

Important Notes:

  • All measurements should be in the same unit for accurate results
  • π (pi) is approximately 3.14159
  • Perimeter is calculated for rectangles and circles

Worked Example

Calculate the area of a rectangle with length 15 feet and width 10 feet.

Inputs:

  • shape:rectangle
  • length:15
  • width:10
  • radius:0
  • base:0
  • height:0

Result:

The area is 150 square feet with a perimeter of 50 feet.

Who Is This Calculator For?

Frequently Asked Questions

Area is the size of a two-dimensional surface. The formula depends on the shape: rectangle = length × width, circle = π × radius², triangle = (base × height) ÷ 2.
Area measures the space inside a shape (2D), while perimeter measures the distance around the outside edge (1D). Area is expressed in square units, perimeter in linear units.
One acre equals 43,560 square feet. This is a useful conversion for land measurements.
